    Sixteen Taxation Accountants Received Confirmation Certificates

    In continuation of 2019’s reforms, Revenue Department of Ministry of Finance made a scheme for taxation accountants examination to shorten the hands of illegal taxation accountants, to bring accountability and transparency in tax assessment of taxpayers, according to the scheme for the first time, on 21 December 2019, in a transparent process that have been previously announced for competition only 50 candidates have been shortlisted for the test and only sixteen of them passed the test successfully and have received their confirmation certificates today at the Revenue and Customs Conference Hall.
    Based on this scheme, accountants that are receiving confirmation certificates from the General Directorate of Revenue are accountable to a committee created by the General Directorate of Revenue to oversee the work of accountants. Moreover, they are required to enhance their taxation knowledge by taking training classes and, if they were not compliant with the procedure, their confirmation certificates will be taken back.
    Dr. Walid Tamim, Deputy-Minister of Revenue and Customs, expressed his happiness and blessings to all who have successfully passed the taxation accountant examination and urged the accountants to stick with their professional commitment and work for the big economic picture of Afghanistan. He said, “Your duties are as lawyers between the tax administrations and the taxpayers.”
    Moreover, Amina Ahmady, DG of Revenue, added on her speeches: “You are replacement of people that have created a bad image for tax offices by doing illegal activities such reduction in assessment of tax or its hiding. Your duties are not reducing tax amount or its hiding, your duties are to measure tax in accordance with the taxation law and its interpretation to the taxpayers. “
    In the end, accountants have thanked the Revenue department for creating making this scheme and professionalizing the taxation accountants. They pledged that their activities will be in line with taxation laws and they will remain good partners of the Revenue Department toward the economic sufficiency of Afghanistan.
    The program ended with the distribution of certificates by Dr. Walid Tamim, Deputy-Minister of Revenue and Customs, and Amina Ahmady, General Director of Revenue to taxation accountants.
