    Joint Press Conference between the Ministry of Finance and the Private Sector to Co-ordinate Bilateral Cooperation

    A joint press conference on mutual cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Finance and the private sector was held today in Government Media and Information Center (GMIC).
    The purpose of meeting was to ensure further coordination with the private sector, implement reforms, combat corruption and improve the economic situation in partnership with the private sector.
    “Afghanistan, considering its domestic economic capacities, wants to put an end to its economic dependence on foreign aid and achieve gradual financial self-sufficiency. To this end, the Ministry of Finance has implemented many reforms in the field of taxes and customs and will continue this path”, said Mr. Mohammad Esa Qudrat the Deputy Minister of Customs and Revenue.
    He further added: “In order to properly collect national revenue, fight corruption and attract investment, we have conducted private sector coordination meetings as a joint effort to improve the economic situation of the country and gradually get rid of foreign assistance.”
    The DM for customs and revenue stated that all applicable laws will be implemented on all those who corrupt the sources of revenue.
    Younas Momand the vice-chairman of the Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Investment praised implementation of reforms and the creation of facilities for the private sect by the Government and assured that the private sector would cooperate fully with the government in implementing reforms and fighting corruption.
    The vice-chairman of the Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Investment rejected the recent rumors published by some media regarding increase in tax and called it untrue.
    At the end of conference, questions of media representatives were answered.
